Services for People with Intellectual Disabilities

Deer Park Villa Inc.

Deer Park Villa Inc. is committed to enhancing quality of life and reaching the full potential for people with intellectual disabilities within Ituna and surrounding area.

Deer Park Villa was incorporated under the Non-Profit Corporations Act in 1989 and opened as a residential service – a 6 person group home in August 1990.  At that time, there were 10 part time employees employed by the agency.  Today, we operate 3 residential group homes, a Day Program Center offering vocational and community programs, a Supported Independent Living Apartment Complex and Supported Independent Living supports to participants residing in the community.  We are governed by a volunteer board of 5-9 directors.  Our staff base has grown to 35 and we are the 2nd largest employer in the Town of Ituna.

Our Residential Program objectives are to meet the personal & recreational needs of participants while creating a comfortable home environment that is both nurturing and caring in a residential setting while enriching their quality of life.  The Villas operate evenings, nights, weekends and all stat holidays that the Day Program is closed.  Participants can express and expect to be supported in their individual preferences in all areas of residential care including but not limited to spiritual, educational, personal support network, decorating of their personal space, their choice of community outings and recreational activities, their choice of daily activities/hobbies, and freedom of choice in all areas of life. Staff provide medical support, personal care assistance, housekeeping, home-cooked meals, recreational outing support, while supporting all interests and choices of participants in their residential & community settings.

Our Day Program objective is to enhance the abilities and skills of participants in a vocational setting in areas that they find meaningful while enriching their quality of life.  Our Day Program is run during the week from 8am – 4pm.  Participants from each group home and Supported Independent Living Programs attend.  We offer vocational based programs that include but is not limited to: Music Therapy, Cooking & Life Skills Program, Snoezlen Therapy Program, Bowling & Fitness Program, Supported Employment Program, Community Outings Program as well as Arts and Crafts Program.  We are hoping to expand our Day Program to be able to offer supported employment for our participants who are interested in working on job skills with the hopes they will gain meaningful paid employment within our community.

Our Supported Independent Living Program objectives are to meet the personal & recreational needs of participants while providing as-needed support in their home & community environments in providing opportunities for them to enhance their quality of life.  Supported Independent Living operates hours throughout the day and evening to provide participants with as-needed supports in all aspects of residential and community living.  These supports include but are not limited to: banking, medical appointments, recreational outings, life skills, cooking, relationship, supported decision making and freedom of choice in all areas of life.
We are looking for community members to share their experience and talents with participants to expand their horizons, dreams, interests, experiences and hobbies. If you would like to volunteer with Deer Park Villa to share your talents, please contact Amanda Senft 306-795-3154 ext. 5.

Deer Park Villa makes a conscious effort to support locally as the Town and RM have been very supportive of our agency.  One of Deer Park Villa’s goals is to become more involved with our community by giving back.  We are looking for opportunities for our participants to volunteer with the support from our Direct Support Professionals. Being an integral part of our community is very important to our participants who hope to build strong connections with people, organizations and businesses in Ituna and surrounding areas.
